Criminal Activity at Kaiser HMO

  •  Before I was to look for medical records and billing discrepancies at Kaiser, a man fired a sawed-off shotgun toward me.  Prior to the shooting, a Kaiser project leader said that I was a gunslinger hired by Kaiser to get rid of employees and that I should be "taken out and shot."  She claimed she could paralyze Kaiser programmers by making us see the colors red over green.

A large number of incidents including property damage, fires and explosions began after the shooting and continued for years.  I documented early incidents from the mid-1980's to mid-2010 on a personal homepage hosted by Earthlink.  This blog replaces my Earthlink homepage.

This blog will primarily document incidents after mid-2010.

I do not know whether all or some or none of these incidents are coincidences.

The above article describes an arson fire that occurred July 28 2014 at my former grocery, the Foodsco market at 14th and Shotwell streets in San Francisco .  On July 28 2020, the sixth anniversary of this incident, a five alarm fire at the same intersection injured one fire fighter and destroyed nearby buildings.

  • Fire at the Piedmont Lumber Company in Walnut Creek California. I regularly walked past their Oakland yard, a few blocks from Kaiser's programming offices.  (Photo date: MM/DD/YY)

I routinely walked by the Piedmont Lumber Co, two or three blocks from Kaiser's programming offices in Oakland.

Names of my Kaiser supervisor and his wife and later a large gasoline can were conspicuous here on Bayshore Boulevard in San Francisco.

A man was found on fire near my regular coffee house of several years.  Customers doused the flames.  The man later died from his burns.  The Mission Local news published the story at:
Man Dies after being Found on Fire in Osage Alley

When I would leave this coffee house, I frequently travelled directly to another alley alongside West Portal Avenue.  Three businesses at this location burned on  January 23 2018:

The Mission Local community news organization covered the fire at Five-Alarm Fire on 14th Street Near Shotwell

October 19 2010: I found this swastika alongside a red wall and green hedge two blocks from Stonestown Galleria in San Francisco

In an old incident, I found this "MALVO" graffiti.  Lee Boyd Malvo was a convicted spree killer who murdered people in shopping malls and elsewhere.  The name of a person I worked with at Kaiser HMO is a few inches from what appears to be the outline of a bullet.

Old incident.  This Kidde Fire Away extinguisher was disassembled and pointed at a child care center across the street.  The red and green object in the upper right corner was a crushed juice container.

This was a bag of coffee I purchased at San Francisco Tea and Coffee Company.

When I was regularly in this neighborhood, a fire  partially burned the building adjacent to the San Francisco Tea and Coffee Company.

Fire was on top floor.  San Francisco Tea and Coffee Company was adjacent at the street level. It has since relocated.

Fire at the building housing San Francisco Tea and Coffee was at 9th Ave and Judah St.

Old incident:  Jameson Irish Whiskey bottle with other red and green bottles on Judah Street.

Old incident at a child care center: Jameson Irish Whiskey bottle beneath a drawing possibly of an automatic weapon.

Same incident.  The shoe above the Jameson bottle was the style worn by the Kaiser employee who said I was a spy hired by Kaiser management to get people fired and that she could paralyze Kaiser computer programmers by making us see the colors red over green.

Same incident.

Two businesses: a Smart and Final supermarket and Michael Heavey Concrete Construction in San Francisco.  In an old incident, somebody ran into the market and pulled the fire alarm. The fire department was attempting to turn it off when I arrived to shop.  Two businesses near a second Michael Heavey location burned in 2011.

This was the second location of Michael Heavy Construction Company on Mission Street in San Francisco.  Two nearby businesses several doors away burned in 2011.

I had noticed an item in front of Michael Heavey's office which an arson investigator had told me in a conversation years ago was a popular tool with arsonists.

For several years, I was a regular customer of a coffee house on 24th Street at Osage Alley.  In January of 2018  man was found on fire in the alley The flames were dosed with water carried from the coffee house.  The man later died.  His death was later ruled as suspicious.  The news article published in the Mission Local news is at:  Mission Local: Jan 23 2018: Man Dies after being Found on Fire in Osage Alley

2011 - San Francisco Fire Department responded to a false alarm at a building housing a child care center as I approached the Walgreens store across the street. Exactly one week later the Walgreens at Haight and Fillmore streets burned.  The burned Walgreens is where in the past I had photos developed for my home page.

2011:  Fire damage to the Walgreens at Haight and Fillmore streets in San Francisco. Several years ago I took photos of an incident in front of Molotov's bar one block from here.  I took the film to this Walgreens to be developed.  This building has red and green signs visible in the lower right corner.

The fire at this Walgreen's occurred 7 days after the fire department responded to a false alarm at a building housing a children's center across from a second Walgreens as I approached.  A sign across from that child care center had previously been defaced with "Watch your little ones burn" graffiti.  Originally the sign displayed "Watch your little ones grow."  A large red and green wall possibly with a bullet hole had been across the street from the child care center when the "Watch your little ones burn" graffiti first appeared.

This photo was taken in March 2007 of bullet holes in a building regularly used for a summer camp program at Sigmund Stern Grove in San Francisco.  Loud explosions were set off in this park at night for years.  When I reported this to the Arson Task Force of the San Francisco Fire Department, I was rebuffed with the remark that "There is simply too much of this stuff going on" and "every high school kid knows how to make a pipe bomb."  One arson investigator told me that what sounded like two pipe bombs had been set off as he left for work on the day we met and he believed they were deliberately set for him.  The arson investigator said he would not investigate the explosions that I reported.

An old incident: The San Francisco Fire Department arrived here in response to a false alarm as I approached.  According to the dispatcher broadcast on the radio, the fire was reported at a laundromat.  There is no laundromat here, but the Ele Ela nail salon has a conspicuous red and green sandwich board on the sidewalk.

The red and green Ele Ela sign.

2013:  On steps across the street from the Manila Oriental Market are "teror" and "criigo" graffiti.  Looking at the "teror" graffiti, one can discern the letters "R" "O" "X" "i" "e".  Perhaps only a coincidence:  I routinely travel past the Roxie market in San Francisco. not far from where a fire occurred at 9th Avenue and Judah Street in the building housing the San Francisco Tea  and Coffee Company.  A different Roxie market was my neighborhood grocer when I lived in Berkeley.  A  2012 fire gutted an apartment building across the street from both the Roxie market and my former residence in Berkeley.   The Berkeleyside news article is at:

May 29 2013.  As I passed by, I noticed that fire department personnel had boarded a municipal bus near this Amigos de Israel location in San Francisco.  The bus was behind the fire engine shown on the left.  Amigos de Israel or a similar organization had previously vacated a location one block from the red and green buildings which burned as shown earlier

Red and green storefront next to a house explosion in San Francisco along my walking route.

2012: I was in front of this apartment building one day before it burned, on my way across the street to the Mission Branch of the San Francisco Public Library.

In an old incident at the San Francisco Ingleside branch library, a book on hold for me had been tagged with the hold date and stored in public view.  On the hold date. a child was shot on the streetcar island which extended from Dorado Terrace to near the library entrance.  (At the time of the shooting, the Ingleside Branch Library was located in a former Bank of America branch at Faxon and Ocean avenues.)

Montecito Tea Fire in the Montecito district of Santa Barbara California.  The fire destoryed more than 200 homes on November 13th 2008.  This picture is from the Wikipedia article on the Montecito Tea Fire.  A former neighbor worked nearby.

After the Montecito Tea Fire in Santa Barbara, I came across this scene in San Francisco: a red tea kettle on a green trash bin.  The trash bag drawstring appeared to be shaped to the letters "SB."

Another tea kettle on a later date at a different location.

2009: At the Presidio of San Francisco, I unexpectedly encountered San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom addressing an assembly  with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (3rd person from the right) seated in the audience.

After I left the assembly at the Presidio of San Francisco, I encountered this red fire alarm box with a broken shield on Green Street.  The blacked out item in the crosswalk is one which an arson investigator had said can be used to start a fire without leaving a trace.

Old Incident: The fire-gutted shell of a building which decades ago had been the Red Fern  Irish Social Club.  Next to it is San Francisco Firefighters Local 798.

2011:  On a visit to Stonestown Galleria, I noticed the San Francisco Fire Credit Union was closed due to a robbery.  Afterward, I was mailed unsolicited private account information that is used to access an account at a nearby bank.  (In the past, over many years I've been frequently contacted by Bank of America personal bankers calling my phone number to contact their wealthy(?) clients.  These calls were persistent over a very long time even as I told them to stop calling me.)

2009: "doctor" graffiti scrawled on a phone kiosk used by kidnappers to make a call during a kidnapping.  The kidnapping occurred when I frequented this location.  The graffiti appeared years after the kidnapping.

Same incident: "doctor" graffiti on phone kiosk.

The same phone kiosk taken at a different time showing additional graffiti,  with a red enclosure and a green gum box.

This photo of a computer services company that I routinely walked past was taken, l think, soon after the damage at the front of the store.

Old shooting incident:s  In 2008, I took this photo in front of a San Francisco school named for a politician.  Two days later a 15 year old was shot dead in front of another San Francisco school named after a politician.  In an old incident at the San Francisco Ingleside branch library, a book on hold for me had been tagged with the hold date and stored in public view.  On the hold date. a child was shot on the streetcar island which extended from Dorado Terrace to near the library entrance.  (At the time of the shooting, the Ingleside Branch Library was located in a former Bank of America branch at Faxon and Ocean avenues.)  In a third incident, the young son of an acquaintance was shot dead.

Old incident:  I took this photo in August 2006.  The car approaching the intersection is a Volkswagen Cabriolet. A person who claimed I was a spy for Kaiser and that I should be shot also drove a Volkswagen Cabriolet, a coincidence worth noting.  A baby was kidnapped from this intersection hours after I took this photo, based on published news reports. Whether the baby was actually kidnapped here was a subject of contention.   In any event, the baby was found dead. The father made allegations about illicit drugs being sold in a hospital or clinic.  One phone call to my answering machine from a stranger expressed disappointment about low sales of illicit drugs at a clinic.  Another impatient sounding message told me to hurry up to meet somebody who did not like to stay in one place too long. (The father was charged with the murder.  I did not follow the news about these events closely.)  At a later date I encountered a Volkswagen Cabriolet parked in front of a child care center with what appeared from my vantage point across the street to be a busted windshield with a seat pushed into the windshield.

This Volkswagen Cabriolet was parked in front of a child care center in September 2010.  The windshield was broken and the front passenger seat was partially outside the windshield.  The Kaiser employee who claimed she could paralyze Kaiser programmers by making us see the colors red over green drove a Cabriolet.

Graffiti like "CLnER", "CLRage", "CLRape," "CLOaK" have been left at various locations including near the Bank of America and California State Automobile Association data processing centers in San Francisco, as well as near two elementary schools.  Alongside the "CLnER" graffiti in this photo are two names of employees I worked with at Kaiser's data center: one name is unusual and the other, a nickname, is quite likely unique.   I first encountered the graffiti in this photo years ago. Across the street, a fire on a children's playground did $10,000 damage. This graffiti is on the side of a building with the address 3090. Kaiser used to do most of its data processing on an IBM 3090 mainframe.

I found this "CLOaK" graffiti facing an elementary school in San Francisco in early 2012.

Fire debris sitting in front of a building after a fire in March 2012.  A friend of mine had an appointment approximately one block away on the afternoon of the fire.  Note the red and green surfaces.

The fire occurred on Taraval Street near 30th Ave in San Francisco.

Old incident:  A fire at this children's playground approximately five blocks from 30th Avenue & Taraval Street melted the slide.

Old incident:  Fire damage at another playground within a mile of Taraval Street and 30th Avenue in San Francisco.  This fire which did $10,000 damage occurred one day after I spoke with a parent on an adjoining playground.  Across the street was a building with the address 3090 (Kaiser used an IBM 3090 mainframe computer for most of its data processing), graffiti consisting of the unique nickname of a Kaiser programmer, the unusual name of another Kaiser data center employee and the letters "clner."

Difficult to read.  Nicknames of two Kaiser employees I worked with, scrawled on a wall across from a playground fire.

Building gutted by fire on May 6, 2012.  I had previously lived nearby.

Some years ago I had noticed an outbreak of shattered windows at locations I frequented, including a computer services company one block from this fire and restaurants.

June 12th 2012 - I received several text messages today demonstrating that somebody has discovered my Google password. Also, somebody using my name has in the past posted on the Internet and also scheduled a speech to the Berkeley California City Council on the topic of terrorism.  Also, somebody restored my entire homepage to Earthlink's hosting service  after I had removed it.

The Red Star Apartments alongside the West Oakland  BART station in Oakland, California burned during construction on June 14th 2012 in an arson fire.  In 1982 or 1983, at Kaiser we discussed how passengers on BART trains passing through this station experienced discomfort from pungent vinegar-like odors from the adjacent Red Star food factory. BART management considered shutting off the flow of outside air to trains as they passed through this station but this was not feasible.

Oakland BART Fire Confirmed As Arson -- Huffington Post June 29th 2012

This graffiti facing the Red Star Apartments may be suggestive both of my last name and one supervisor's name at Kaiser. Letters from my last name shown here are R-i-s-t-r-e-m.

The graffiti  on this Pacific Gas and Electric substation at 8th and Mission streets in San Francisco was similar to graffiti near a children's playground fire.  This was also where an unknown person shut off electricity to 20 or 30 percent of PG&E's San Francisco customers.

The headline "SFFD Probes Castro Fires" refers to fires in the Castro district of San Francisco including the one shown in the following two photos.

The back of the building at 17th and Hartford streets in San Francisco   A fire labeled as suspicious by the SFFD occurred here during a conversion from apartment building to condominium.
This is the front of the condo conversion at 17th and Hartford  streets in San Francisco where a suspicious fire occurred. Like some other fires, it occurred at or near addresses with the numbers "3" and "9" in them.  Kaiser used an IBM 3090 mainframe computer when I worked there. Incidents have repeatedly occurred at times and addresses based on the number "3090."

A fire occurred a half block from this sign.  I had photographed items a few yards from here  which are, according to an arson investigator,  favored by arsonists to start fires.

A fire on a children's playground occurred across the street from this address.

At the time I worked at Kaiser, it used an IBM 3090 mainframe for most of its data processing.  Loud explosions in my neighborhood occurred for over a decade at times based on the pair of numbers 3 and 9.  Some other incidents happened at addresses or places displaying both numbers 3 and 9 together.  In one incident the names of Kaiser programmers (one name was a unique nickname and another name was rare) were scrawled on the side of the building shown above with an address of 3090, across the street from where a fire damaged a children's playground

Here is an IBM 3090 being shut down. (Youtube video clip.)

The buildings which burned on August 7th 2012 were behind the truck in the lower right corner of this old photo.  A child was shot some years ago on the west end of this streetcar island.  Prior to the shooting, a tag with my name and the date of the shooting was near the east end of the island.

Tag with my name and the date 4/26/08 which had been inside the Ingleside library.  On 4/26/08 a child was shot near the library.  The tag had been inside the Ingleside library for a week or so prior to the shooting. The library has since relocated.  The Walgreens drug store shown in the previous photo was across the street from the library.

Old incident:  Ten or so days after I trapped this feral cat for treatment at a local animal shelter, the animal shelter in a city where I had  previously lived burned.

The building which had occupied this empty lot one block from a San Francisco hospital was gutted by fire.  Its owner , I am informed, was a school which owned a building I had lived in.  I have not verified the ownership at the time of the fire.  (2011 photo.)

September 10, 2012:  When I approached the Walgreens drugstore on Mission Street at 16th Street in San Francisco, the fire department arrived to extinguish a fire on the sidewalk near the drugstore.  Here are some photos:

Shuttle buses belonging to the University of California at San Francisco Medical Center regularly transport passengers to within a few yards of where the fire occurred.

The fire happened at the bus stop on 16th Street at Mission Street in San Francisco.

On June 11th 2013 as I neared the Walgreens Drug store at Mission Street at 16th Street, several San Francisco Fire Department vehicles passed by with their sirens and flashing lights active.  The hook and ladder shown above passed Walgreens, traveled one block east where it turned off its siren and left travelling on South Van Ness Avenue.  A few minutes later, I noticed a SFFD ambulance in front of the Hertz Equipment Rentals yard on South Van Ness near 16th Street as it was slowly leaving with no lights and no siren.

September 24th 2012:  Within five minutes of the time I arrived home, somebody unsuccessfully attempted to reset the password for one of my Internet accounts.

October 12th 2012
One of the fliers I circulated.

Above image is of a second flier that I circulated at the intersection of West Portal Avenue and Ulloa Street in San Francisco around 2005.  On October 12th 2012 a fire damaged businesses at this intersection including the Squat & Gobble cafe.  In the past, I met several times weekly for four months with an employee of Squat and Gobble at a location where incidents occurred.  The burned businesses were across the street from a vacant building whose last tenant was a Walgreens drug store.

The San Francisco Appeal reports that this fire injured two firefighters and is not being considered suspicious:

A medical-dental building was red tagged as a result of the October 12th 2012 fire  at Ulloa Street and West Portal Avenue  in San Francisco.

November 28th 2012:  Several months ago I received an official notice that I would be summoned to jury duty.  Yesterday a news article disclosed that recently 30 bomb threats had been phoned to courts in multiple states.

February 27th 2013:  A few days ago a Florida childcare center was defaced with three red swastikas and set on fire.  This link is working at present but will probably expire:   http://www.wsvn.com/news/articles/local/21009944644177/daycare-and-church-targeted-by-hate-crime/

March 15th 2013:  As I arrived across the street from St. Luke's Hospital in San Francisco, I noticed a fire department crew with an empty stretcher walking back to their truck from a parking lot belonging to a retail store.  A private ambulance was in the same parking lot, motionless, no lights, no sign of activity at all. It remained there for at least several minutes and was still parked when I lost sight of it.  I don't know what happened, whether it was a false alarm or not, but I am noting it here. Here is a photo of the fire truck:

There are prominent red and green colors behind the fire truck.  This was also the case in other incidents, as when a red Kidde brand fire extinguisher was disassembled and left on a green lawn pointing to a child care center. When I worked at Kaiser as a computer programmer, another employee told me she could paralyze Kaiser programmers by making us see the colors red over green.  This photo also shows the clover logo on the O'Reilly Auto Parts sign behind the fire truck.  In a 2008 incident, a boy was shot on Ocean Avenue in San Francisco near a sign  advertising Clover dairy products.  (Two weeks or so before the shooting, a tag with my name and the date of the shooting had been left nearby.)  There are other similarities to previous incidents, too.  Theses may be significant or just coincidences.

July 5th 2013:  While I was at the intersection of Persia Avenue and Mission Street, a SFFD fire truck passed by on its way to the sidewalk a few blocks away opposite an O'Reilly Auto Parts store and a One $ Only store.  A man was transported from the sidewalk to an ambulance.  Photos:

September 4th 2013: This past  weekend I came across an O'Reilly Auto Parts container leaning against a municipal trash bin.  The product was of a type favored by arsonists for starting fires.  This incident happened about one block away from an office that very recently was evacuated by the fire department after people reported breathing difficulties.  The cause was not determined.

Years ago, I photographed a location where hours later a baby was kidnapped and murdered.  Since then, I have found single shoes (with one exception, single shoes and baby or small child size) at various places.  Here is a recent picture of a lone shoe near an O'Reilly's Auto Parts store.

November 17 2013:  A boot in front of a building which previously had "CLrage" scrawled on it.  Also visible  is the entrance to a San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency office.  In September or October, persons complaining of respiratory difficulties were moved from this or a nearby MTA office to fresh air by the San Francisco Fire Department.

April 6th 2013:  Early this morning, within a minute or so of the time I started to turn out the lights at my home, a car squealed its tires and brakes for approximately one minute.  The sound was barely audible to me because it probably originated several blocks away.  Years ago, explosions audible in my neighborhood would be followed within a minute or so with the sounds of a car squealing its tires and brakes.  At some other times in the past, I would receive a hang-up call about one minute before the explosions.

June 9th 2013 UPDATE:  (Originally posted April 20th 2013)  In the mid-1980's, an employee at Kaiser's data center where I worked told me that his friends who were gardeners started the fire which destroyed one entire building in the Palm Lake Apartments at Treat Boulevard and Oak Grove Road in Concord California.  According to him, the fire was started by placing burning candles on a sofa.  The candles were scented and the intention was to get rid of odors in the sofa. The ensuing fire consumed one entire building which probably contained more than 60 apartments.  I had previously planned on moving into that apartment complex and did so when it was rebuilt.   Years later I received three phone calls:  The first call commented on landscaping activity at a physician's home.  The second call said the physician's home had been robbed.  In the third call, the caller said he (the caller) had nothing to do with the robbery.  I had earlier checked out five or so books from a library.  One of the titles contained the physician's last name and the remainder contained a word which sounded exactly like the physician's name but was spelled differently.

July 30th 2013:  I received a phone call from a medical office during the morning of July 29th   The Red Cross office in San Francisco received a phoned bomb threat the same morning.

October 7th 2013:  As I approached a store to shop, I noticed a gasoline can sitting against the store's wall.  A few minutes after I left the store, an ambulance and two fire vehicles arrived nearby in front of a municipal office with their sirens on and lights flashing.  About ten minutes later, they drove away with no lights and no sirens.  This was near a childcare center where I had photographed a "Watch your little ones burn" sign some years ago.

Oct 31, 2013:  While running errands today, I came across the San Francisco Fire Department dealing with a fire near a day care center.  Near the fire was a "Fired Up" poster.  Also near the fire was an historic firehouse.  Here are some photos:

November 1, 2013: Someone broke into my residence this afternoon between 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m.  The intruder broke through a locked iron gate and a locked door.  He(?) walked to the back bedroom. I opened the bedroom door which he was attempting to un-stick.  I opened the bedroom door but he ran away before I could see him.

The letters "JR" were scrawled at the entrance to a child care center.  Nearby is the Kaiser Glass Company and a San Francisco Fire Department training facility.  My initials are "JR".

On April 4th 2014 at about 2:39 pm, two San Francisco Fire Department vehicles arrived a short distance from me with sirens on and lights flashing.  As they approached the intersection nearest me, they shut off their sirens and most of their lights, waited a short while and left.  Here are some photos:

April 21st 2014:  A fatality occurred on Valencia Street near Duboce Street this afternoon at the time I was a half-block away.  I took photos over the vigorous objections of a least two firemen and one policeman who loudly stated that photos were inappropriate out of respect for the deceased.

May 10th 2014:  Two computers were stolen from a medical clinic in my neighborhood in January.  In the past on multiple occasions, an item which is favored by arsonists had been left precariously balanced on a pipe near the medical clinic.  Local CBS outlets provided news of the theft on their website:

June 14th 2014:  West Portal subway station in San Francisco was evacuated due to heavy smoke from a train in an incident on June 13th 2014.  I had gone through the station a few hours earlier in the day on my way to a Walgreen's drug store and later passed nearby the station a second time.  The West Portal subway station is across the street from the the former location of a Walgreens drug store.  This likely to be pure coincidence.   An online news article provides limited information:

August 1 2014:  On June 28 at 6:30 p.m., a knife-wielding suspect walked into the grocery store where I shop, poured lighter fluid on the floor and set it alight.  The store is located across the street from a facility belonging to University of California medical school in San Francisco.

August 16 2014: Two unsuccessful attempts to break into my online account were made recently.  The attempts were apparently made from Italy and Ukraine.

August 27 2014:  My bank notified me that there may have been fraudulent activity on my account.  I was able to confirm that this was a genuine cautionary notice from my bank.

A few hours later I received a call from a fraudulent source.  In a Google search,  I found posts from other bank clients who had made allegations that: (1) the phone number had previously belonged to my bank, (2) had been posted on the bank's official website,  (3) had been retired from service by the bank, (4) but for a while had been left one the bank's website after being disconnected, (5) scammers are using the number to misrepresent themselves as calling from the bank and, for example, asking for personal information such as passport ID number.

September 5th 2014:  In mid-2014, a fire burned the Hot Pot restaurant at 21st and Taraval streets in San Francisco.  The Hot Pot restaurant is located one block from the Walgreens drug store at 22nd and Taraval streets and its signage includes prominent

September 9th 2014:  Recently, ISIS has threatened to assassinate employees of Twitter in San Francisco.

February 4th 2015:  The fire noted in my January 30th post occurred across the street from Doc's Clock, a long established tavern.  The San Francisco Fire Department considers the fire non-suspicious according to a local news site.  I will eventually post a picture of the gutted building as well as Doc's Clock.

February 15th 2015:  On February 14th, I received an email from Walgreen's confirming a prescription which I had ordered online.  Approximately 15 minutes later, two hangup phone calls were made to my phone number from an international phone number which displayed as +50586806638.

May 14 2015:  Months ago, buildings shown above were gutted by fire hours after I passed this location.  The gutted businesses and apartments extended from near JR Jewelry to Popeye's Chicken, both shown above in old photos. Docs Clock, a tavern, is located across the street. The San Francisco Fire Department believes this fire was caused by electrical problems, according to a January 2015 news report.

May 20 2015:

Photo of Joanna's Bridal Fashion Shop which had been located across the street from the fire at Mission and 22nd Street.

A Kaiser employee who claimed I was a gunslinger hired by Kaiser management to get rid of staff also claimed that Kaiser was run by bozos and sickos.  These old photos show "bozo" and "malo" scrawled across from a site which I regularly traveled past . The site was later developed as a health clinic.

On a July 7th 2015 visit to the Walgreen's drug store on Cesar Chavez in San Francisco, I noticed this nearby building had recently burned.

June 2015:  I visited two hospitals as a patient in June.  At one hospital some unknown person set off an alarm a few yards from where I was awaiting surgery.  At the second hospital, the building was evacuated a few minutes after my arrival due to a false alarm.  I do not know if these were coincidences.

August 2015:  I recently found these discarded copies of 4 pages from my old Earthlink home page:

These photos were taken by me on October 7 2015 during a visit to the Walgreens drugstore at Cesar Chavez and Mission streets in San Francisco.  Although I have not been told what happened, this does appear to be recent fire damage.

June 18 2016:  I travelled to Walgreens on Cesar Chavez Street in San Francisco where prescription eye drops were waiting for me.   As I approached the store, I saw thick smoke bellowing up nearby.  Mission Street in front of the drug store and some side streets had been closed to traffic and fire fighting was underway.  Here are photos:

The SFGate news site reported that 42 residents were displaced by the 5-alarm fire:  .
For years, several times a week I had visited the front of this store prior to its being destroyed by this fire.

The bus stop in front of the burned-out building is one that I used multiple times each week for a period of years.

In a incident years ago, the cherry pits were left near the body of a murdered physician.  Afterwards, these pits --- they may be cherry pits --- were left a location I frequented.

A photograph taken by the AFP news agency and published in the online Washington Post shows the numbers 3 and 9 next door to the burned-out Ghost Ship venue in Oakland, a pair of tennis shoes close to the Ghost Ship entrance, and a nearby expanse of red and green foliage.

In early 2017, a clinic was evacuated 10 or so minutes after I completed my appointment.  There were probably a few hundred people in the clinic.  The initial announcement over the public address system told people to leave the building.  When I got to the front exit, we were told it was a false alarm.

From a SFGate news article on the Ghost Ship Fire:  The woman...was screaming that everyone should remain upstairs..... She was saying 'There's a fire! Don't come down here!' ....she wore a red beanie and a green dress."

SFGate: Ghost Ship Fire

Update May 6 2018.  A man was found on fire in the alley alongside a coffeehouse I patronized for several years.  The flames were doused with water that was carried from the coffeehouse.  The man died in hospital.  The Mission Local news site reported this incident at
Update September 29 2018.  During the multiple years that I patronized retailers  located next to Osage Alley, I routinely traveled from Osage Alley directly to an alley adjacent to West Portal Avenue.  A few months ago, three businesses alongside this alley burned.

Updated November 2 2019.

December 20 2019:  Yesterday (12/19/19) San Francisco State University was evacuated after receiving a bomb threat.  During the evacuation, loud squeals from a car "burning rubber" were heard in my neighborhood.  In the past, over the course of many years somebody would make the same sounds in my neighborhood at a series of times which were based only on the numbers 3 0 and 9.  During the time I worked at Kaiser, the bulk of their heavy duty data processing was done on IBM 3090 computers.

A two-alarm fire burned an apartment building across the street from Doc's Clock bar.

Below is an exterior clock which was a few doors down the street from a fire which burned the top story of an apartment building.

Perhaps only a coincidence:  Meristem Flowers, damaged by an explosion in June 2020, has a name similar to mine:

Feb 22nd 2021.  I returned home from an appointment at a San Francisco hospital.  I discovered that my lock has been made inoperable with hardened material. It was working fine yesterday.

Feb 23rd 2021.  I asked a friend to examine my lock.  He thinks the obstruction is normally occurring corrosion (interacting with a flawed duplicate key.)

May 31 2021.  3-alarm fire on Via Monte in the Almaden area of San Jose displaced seven adults and seven children.  Perhaps just coincidence, but the Kaiser data center where I worked was on Via Monte in Walnut Creek, California.  A related Mercury News article on June 1 2021 is at Mercury News
